  1.     This is the first upgrade of "Around The House". I've taken many of the
  2. little programs I use and incorporated it into this one. The future plan is 
  3. to make this do everything YOU might also want to see and use. If you have 
  4. suggestions, wishes, comments or trouble write to me and let me know. 
  5.  
  6.     You may use and evaluate this program for thirty days. At the end 
  7. of that time if you decide you want to continue using "Around The House" 
  8. complete the order form provided on the disk and send in your registration. 
  9. You can print out the order form by going to the DOS directory where you 
  10. have placed your program and typing "copy register.doc prn" (no quotes).

  12.     To register your "Around The House" program;
  13.  
  14.     When you register, you'll receive the latest upgraded version of this 
  15. program.  AND you will also receive, ***FREE***, a registered version of a
  16. "My VCR Tapes Library". This is a very nice program to keep track of all 
  17. your video tapes and who you lent them to. This is a well-written program, 
  18. similar to "Around The House".

  20.     If you register at the $29.00 fee, you will recieve a notice of all
  21. future upgrades, you can then order them for a small fee ($10.00, at present).

  23.     If you register at the $49.00 fee, you will recieve all future upgrades
  24. free of charge as soon as they are available.

  55. she's likely to use some "truck driver language" on you if you wake

  57.         Hopefully, the program is "user friendly", and tech support
  58. will rarely be necessary, but you can still call to express 'wants
  59. and desires', or to 'shoot the bull'.

  62.         There is a manual written in ASCII included on the disk.
  63. To print it out, go to the DOS directory where you stored your program
  64. "Around The House" and type 'copy manual.frm prn'.

  66.         Everything written in the manual is also available in the
  67. 'Help Screens' of "Around the House".  Press F1 to access them.

  72.         "Sort Files" in the Utility Menu can come in quite handy.
  73. If you are looking for an entry in any of the databases that you
  74. are certain is there, but it doesn't show up, use this option. It
  75. is possible that a corrupted index is present. This will fix it.

  77.         Every precaution has been taken to ensure the reliability
  78. of this program and the integrity of your information. However,
  79. 'things happen' (things?). I can't be held responsible for data
  80. loss due to hardware malfunctions, power failures, and so forth.
  81. But if they do, 'Sort Files' might help. It does a lot more than
  82. just "Sort".

  86. Type ATH in the directory where you installed "Around The House"
  87. to start the program.
  88.  
  89. This program will check to see if you have a color card installed
  90. in your computer. If it finds one, it will set the screen display
  91. to color. If it finds a monochrome card it will set your screen
  92. display to monochrome. But if you are using a color card and a
  93. monochrome monitor, you will see some odd screens. If you do, go
  94. back to the DOS prompt and type "ATH M" to restart the program.
  95. This will correct the screen display, by setting it to monochrome.

  97. Check your CONFIG.SYS file. If you this program generates a "Too Many
  98. Files Open Error", your CONFIG.SYS  must be changed to:
  99.         FILES=20
  100.         BUFFERS=20
  101.         (edit these two lines to the above.)

  106. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  107.  
  108. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  109. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  110. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  111. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  112. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  113. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  114. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  116. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  117. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  118. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  119. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  120. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  121. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  122. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  123. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  124. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  125. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  126. Shareware.

  128. Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
  129. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  130. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  131. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
  132. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
  133. has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
  134. product, you don't pay for it.

  139. "Around The House" is supplied as is.  The author disclaims all
  140. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation,
  141. the warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.
  142. The author assumes no liability for damages, direct or conse-
  143. quential, which may result from the use of "Around The House"."

  145. "Around The House" is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  146. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  147. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  148. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  149. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  150. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  151. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  152. useful and find that you are using "Around The House" and continue to use
  153. "Around The House" after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  154. istration payment of $29.00 to BlueCollar.  The $29.00
  155. registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  156. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like
  157. a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  158. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  159. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  160. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  161. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  162. same time.

  164. Commercial users of "Around The House" must register and pay for their
  165. copies of "Around The House" within 30 days of first use or their license
  166. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
  167. tacting BlueCollar.

  169. Anyone distributing "Around The House" for any kind of remuneration must
  170. first contact BlueCollar Software for authorization.
  171. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  172. recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
  173. shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  174. "Around The House" immediately (However BlueCollar must still be advised so
  175. that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
  176. version of "Around The House".).

  178. You are encouraged to pass a copy of "Around The House" along to your
  179. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  180. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  181. will receive a copy of the latest version of "Around The House".
